SLY & THE FAMILY DRONE // JOSEPH CURWEN // WATTS // FRET!

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings & Cruel Nature Records Present:

SLY & THE FAMILY DRONE

Using only drums and processed cassettes, and incorporating many elements of avant-garde music and sound art in their realisation, Sly & The Family Drone are a primal orchestra of drum rhythms, radiophonic oscillator noise and electronically-abstracted vocals. They forge hypnotic, textural workouts in the vein of Black Dice, Shit & Shine and Crash Worship.

Sly's reductionist take on music is literal; they split their drum kit to its singular base units, passing individual drums to the audience who maintain the beat while they free themselves for more noise and freestyle mayhem, ultimately eliminating any boundaries between spectator and performer. This egalitarian approach propels audience and band together into a shamanistic setting of catharsis and anarchic celebration, By the end of the set their drums and equipment are scattered; the remnants of their music lying bare across the floor.

There is no place for guitars within this band.

"Their live show are becoming legendary. Things usually get broken. There will be more than likely blood. A must see live experience. No gig by Sly & The Family Drone is ever the same." Club Velocity 2011

JOSEPH CURWEN

HP Lovecraft inspired post-rave hauntology rituals and radiophonic occult synth horror soundtracks.

WATTS

Organic atmospheric ambient noise by him from Dolmen Dweller, Colugo, Lump Hammer, Blind Spite, Plague Rider and so on...

FRET!

Noisy surf garage rock power trio who never fail to get an audience shuffling.

WOVEN SKULL // SOPHIE COOPER // CORE OF THE COALMAN

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings Presents:

WOVEN SKULL

In 2008, Woven Skull first began playing together in a house owned by two of the members and located at the foot of Sheemore (a hill where two factions of fairies clash in an annual battle) in the empty sparse countryside of northwest Ireland. These atmospheric surroundings helped to forge their music which has been described as "minimal, repetitive, distorted, ugly and beautiful in one". The trio spent several years experimenting with combinations of instrumentation, household objects, kitchen utensils, seashells, footsteps, chimes, recordings of cats purring and frogs mating while developing a sound that after a recent set was described as "a Turkish Velvet Underground".

Within the group, song writing is split equally between Aonghus on densely propulsive guitar and Natalia on distorted mandola. The riffs Natalia composes are seeped deep in the Ukrainian lullabies and superstitions that surrounded her as a child and those that Aonghus writes stem from his past musical projects that span from harsh noise to improv. These are glued together by the endless cyclical rhythms created by Willie and inspired by the sounds he encounters as he walks the boggy lanes that surround his home: from syncopated cattle calls to the beating wings of bats in the night to the creaking of trees as they push against each other in the wind.

Woven Skull have recorded in dark haunted woods, beside bottomless lakes, and in attics of abandoned houses. Their upcoming LP, "Lair of the Glowing Bantling" is their first studio album and captures a sound that's more in line with their live performance than past releases which have been a mix of lo-fi practice tapes, outdoor recordings and segments from collaborative sets.

SOPHIE COOPER

Sophie Cooper is a West Yorkshire based musician influenced by psychedelic pop, weird noise and drone, whose main interest is in experimenting with conventional song writing. Cooper's music is written to reflect her life and more often that not is inspired by the people around her. The songs have a dreamlike quality, with sounds and vocals drifting in and out of clarity. Cooper has been making music since her early teens and has been in a string of acts including Cooper Jones and Leopard Leg.

CORE OF THE COALMAN

Hailing from the Czech Republic, Jorge Boehringer's performances as Core of the Coalman normally include conventional instruments such as viola and harmonica, as well as feedback-driven yodel triggers, descending tympanic pressures implying sexual interface, and extended upwardly-mobile Carnasitic arrays, with ornaments. Core of the Coalman has been featured on all kinds of concert programs from power electronics and noise performances to small gallery events and on major art festival performances such as Impakt Festival (presented by Kraak) and Colour Out of Space (presented by Chocolate Monk).

HAAR // THE INFERNAL SEA // BLIND SPITE

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings Presents:

HAAR

Haar from Edinburgh was formed in 2008 with the ambition to create challenging and idiosyncratic black metal. Their sound is defined by a generous measure of dissonance, a progressive approach to songwriting and a palette of sounds that includes death and doom metal influences. Lyrical subject matter is typically rooted in a study of ontology and human nature.

THE INFERNAL SEA

From the fens of Eastern England, The Infernal Sea's style is rooted in the traditional black metal sound. Not afraid to experiment and push the boundaries, they bring an eclectic mix of influences to their sound. Their intense live performances have carved them into something unique and terrifying.

BLIND SPITE

Blind Spite fuse the atmospherics and vitriol of black metal with the brutality of death metal to create an uncompromising and expansive take on the human condition and the vast uncaring universe we inhabit.

MOSS // BONG // NEOLITHIC

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings Present:

MOSS

Since they emerged from Hampshire's catacombs in late 2000, Moss have tirelessly dragged intimidating amplification and metaphysical malignance down a murky and overgrown path to oblivion. Whilst their sound has morphed slowly from lengthy and devastating exorcisms of psychic horror to a comparatively traditional form of sermonising, the last decade and a half had only seen them draw closer to a motherlode of ceremonial ambience and otherworldly dread. Fuelled by classic doom metal and British horror yet in thrall to no-one but their own wayward co-ordinates, these three seers have created a formidable collection of audial documents that bear testimony to an unflinching fascination with the ghastly and esoteric.

BONG

Local doom legends Bong need no introduction. Ahead of the release of their new LP We Are, We Were And We Will Have Been, expect to hear sounds from this upcoming record, performed as a three piece.

NEOLITHIC

Sunderland's finest misery mongers. The sound of really big things falling over.

PRIMITIVE MAN // SEA BASTARD // OMMADON

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings Presents:

PRIMITIVE MAN

Denver, Colorado's Primitive Man unleash a filthy, malignant maelstrom of blackened doom on their debut album 'Scorn'. Thrillingly misanthropic in their approach, Primitive Man drench their post-apocalyptic vision of the world in waves of feedback, pummeling guitars and hopelessly frightening vocals. This is grade-A hateful, soul-annihilating music of the darkest order.

SEA BASTARD

Sea Bastard are a doom band from Brighton on the south coast of the UK formed in July 2011. They combine uncompromising lethargy with groove elements to create a powerful fusion of sludge misery.

OMMADON

Ommadon are a heavy drone-doom two piece who find their focus in the isolated forests of the Scottish highlands creating long, sprawling, abrasive pieces for your listening displeasure.

BAD GUYS // RAT FACED BASTARD // ROY CROPPER // THE NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE SPEED DONK EXPERIENCE // MOLESTRAL PALSY

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings Presents:

A full evening of ridiculous music for all you fools. Whether you're an April fool or a full-timer, you're bound to enjoy something stupid from this bill...

BAD GUYS

On tour to promote superbly titled new album Bad Guynaecology which was recorded in a snake pit, in a quarry, on top of a mountain, in the desert, at night, during a thunderstorm, and boasts a twin double-neck baritone/regular six-guitar attack, pounding on drums and wild vocals laid down on seven foot wide steel tape, then smelted into WAVs by an irritable dwarf in an ancient forge, in space.

RAT FACED BASTARD

Back by unpopular demand, deathgrind dickheads of the highest degree.

ROY CROPPER

Silly fast smash. Grind Coronation Street.

THE NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE SPEED DONK EXPERIENCE

Pretty much self-explanatory, right?

COLTSBLOOD // NINKHARSAG // GEOMANCER

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings Presents:

COLTSBLOOD

Coltsblood is the sound of the past, the voices of ancestors, terrifying legends once roared with passion from around fires beneath open skies, fuelled by mead and ale; is it the darkest depths of the human mind and the great journey into the unknown of which we all face. Like Celts thundering into war, Coltsblood take up their weapons and summon colossal riffs loud enough for their ancient Gods to hear. Somewhere in the past, war drums thunder, there bellows a blood curdling cry, fires roar, terror resonates, there is freedom, death, life, meaning. Coltsblood feels the need to recreate the strength and power of these spiritual memories.

NINKHARSAG

Since forming in 2011, Ninkharsag have been like a thunderbolt to the UK black metal scene. Armed with chilling riffery which bespeaks of tales of carnage strewn battlefields to the assassins of ancient Jerusalem, their ascent has been rapid, quickly climbing the ladder with rabid hunger to be one of the more respected bands on the black metal circuit.

GEOMANCER

Newish three piece doom band from various parts of the North East.

ANTHROPROPHH // HAIKAI NO KU // FIRST PROCESS CHURCH OF MARS

Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings & Leave Me Here Present:

...a night of waster infused experimental psych-rock!

ANTHROPROPHH

Anthroprophh's music originates in the evolutionary field work of Paul Allen's endless 33.333 rituals and near mythical status as part of one of the UK's greatest underground acts; The Heads.

The Heads have been carving their own brand of kinetic psychoacoustics since the early 90s and Anthroprophh continues that Bristolian tradition with his latest spectrum of sonic assaults.

The tracks unearthed follow the Krautrock tradition of at times being anarchic, at others mystical, magical, or utopian. Heavy on the planetary rhythms, laced percussive half man, half machine grooves, Anthroprophh glazes his music with a darker spirit of Michael Karoli and CAN secret rhythms.

Anthroprophh is concerned with all aspects of musical behaviour, past, present, and with an eye to the future like the sonic output you would find on labels such as Blackest Rainbow and Not Not Fun. His interest in the oscillating neuronal discharges of instruments induce the long distance pattern of synchronization, corresponding to the moment of perception itself and to the ensuing Motorik response.

HAIKAI NO KU

By now avid fans of doom and psychedelia will be familiar with Mike Vest's (Bong, 11Paranoias, Blown Out) patented hyper fuzz guitar shrieks and damaged feedback. In Haikai No Ku he is joined by Jerome Smith (Female Borstal, Charles Dexter Ward) on bass and Sam Booth (Foot Hair, Bin, Obey) on drums to deliver a burgeoning psychedelic doom trip of the highest grade.

FIRST PROCESS CHURCH OF MARS

First Process Church of Mars are a three piece heavy stoner/psychedelic rock band from Hartlepool in the North East of England. All songs are improvised in a live environment in the studio.
